Defs without an organization

Just a couple of days ago after Defining Stars announced the comeback of their team with two new players, the organization has ceased operations, leaving the team homeless.

According to Defining Stars' website the organization had been around for sixteen years before closing down last night. Although no official reason was given, the statement by Ricardo "unjust" Canessa points at people leaving playing a major part in all of it.

Former defs left without an organization

Contacted by HLTV.org, Tiago "dzt" Gonçalves said the Counter-Strike team will not disband and is currently looking for a new organization to represent. Most recently they placed 9-16th at World Cyber Games after a loss versus ESC Gaming.

Defining Stars was:

Portugal Tiago "dzt" Gonçalves
Portugal João "ehz" Monteiro
Portugal André "keznitt" Morais
Portugal Carlos "xAims" Marques
Portugal Diogo "Ririo" Aguiar

The teams future plans include attending EPTv4 and excelfunction Fraglider Cup in Portugal, although the date for neither tournament has been announced yet.

cs is dying game
2012-02-27 06:46
the organization died , not the counter-strike team...
2012-02-27 15:11
he's talking about the game not the team, because if many organization stop, cs will stop too.
2012-02-27 18:06
organizations always stopped, doesn't mean anything by itself this kind of user is killing 1.6
2012-02-27 21:01
lol, random guy telling me that i want cs to die, it's just an observation moron, which is true, if there isn't any organization left, there won't be any tournaments or any team.
2012-02-27 21:35
"random guy"... i don't know who you expected to tell you this. should be Jesus commenting? btw, that statement #100 is totally truth, but the #17 is shit.
2012-02-28 00:22
jesus is dead, so why would he comment? lol :D had to do it
2012-02-28 05:38
but, i believe that portugal cs will "die" a bit after Defining Stars died, they have been doing such a great job, opening lans, launching tours.. The only great tour that I see in portugal is EPT (except XLParty, but that's not only a cs tour)!
2012-02-27 21:48
We still have lans, the same tours, and good tournaments: EPT, PGS, XLparty, XfunciontFraglider Cup..
2012-02-27 23:08
if defs still exists we would have Defs SteelSeries Cup, don't you think that this made a negative impact in our society?
2012-02-28 00:30
yea in that point is right. But will have other tournaments. And we have less organizations that can make a good support of portuguese team's. But for now, no big deal.
2012-02-28 18:52
sad story.

Only because of this news does not necessarily have to say that the counter-strike is dying. You can even do so, but it was not for this reason that one of the best organizations (if not the best) of Portugal ceased its functions. It's sad because defs were doing a awesome job regarding portuguese community, but it seems that this happened due to internal problems. No one knows for sure what, or at least I don't.

respect4defs <3 so sad, it's a very bad news ! The site of defs was the center of the portuguese community :(
2012-02-27 11:39
Its so funny everyone keep saying that the game Will die, dont you Think various organisations are Reading om these sites and thinking "ohh well the whole scene are sure This game Will die soon, so let's back off the medium teams" If everyone tell you, you Will fail, often you will do so. So enough with the fecking talk about cs dying, im sick of it!
2012-02-27 11:43
this is not about cs 1.6. the organization ceased activities due to other problems.
2012-02-27 11:45

I'm impressed with the seriousness of defs organization. How can you hire a team and two days after cease your operations? What changed in these two days? I don't really understand, ceasing operations is not a decision you make in a couple of days (at least I wanna believe they didn't...), what were the point of adding a new team? Anyway good luck for both of them, CS players and organization crew.

Something important, I assume, but... Its not so precipitated? Its like, 'hey guys, there you have everything you ask' and a couple of hours after the organization disband... 'In defs we trust' Yeah!

I don't know the reasons but I have to agree: i think it was a little precipitate. Just let wait an see. I could notice a lot of sadness and anger in that oficial statement, maybe he could reconsider. Let's wait and see.
2012-02-27 14:01
Inside problems, people trying to destroy it. At least that what the statement on the website indicates.

What will happen to defs lan? This is really sad, defs.org was like the portuguese hltv.org, just hope some portuguese organisation steps up in terms of coverage and supporting the community, because this was a big loss to portuguese community.
2012-02-27 15:17
defs lan is now the new CJM. :)
2012-02-27 15:51
Fraglider, the news portal which is organizing along side with xfunction and CJM, the xfuncitonFragliderCUP by CJM, does also the coverage of several games, such as CS 1.6 ;)
2012-02-27 16:10
