Video: Interview with Fifflaren

December 10th, 2012 00:43

We wrap up our coverage of THOR Open with a video interview with Robin "Fifflaren" Johansson from Ninjas in Pyjamas, the winner of the CS:GO tournament.

NiP added yet another title- their fifth international trophy since switching to CS:GO - to their cabinet on Sunday after defeating Finnish side Curse on two maps.

The match was not a walk in the park for NiP, though, as the Swedish giants found themselves on the back foot during several stages; still, they were able to come out on top and stretch their unbeaten LAN run while claiming the top prize of more than $15,000.

In this interview, Johansson comments on the final against Curse, the fact that NiP seemed to struggle in pistol rounds and also the criticism that he has dealt with in recent weeks, among other topics.

2012-12-10 01:09
Go play deathmatch fifflaren, your awp is pretty baad!!
2012-12-10 01:14
So he knows hes not at the same lvl as the others are :)
2012-12-10 01:14
Well true. But lets be honest which swedish player is on f0rest, xizt and get right level at this moment? EDIT: IN CS:GO.
2012-12-10 01:17
2012-12-10 01:43
None, i agree. but in a team with 44-0 there's lots of players that would have a better rating then his (1.06).
2012-12-10 02:26
48/49 wins actually :O
2012-12-10 08:43
Denmark jazu
Its all about the ratings. gtfo.
2012-12-14 11:09
Nobody is at the level of those 3 guys as he said. It's just impossible for him to be at the same level in such a short time
2012-12-10 01:22
everybody knows its not a matter of time.

Everybody or 1.6 fanboys.
2012-12-10 08:28
Of course, because his role within the team isnt to be the top fragger, so he doesn't NEED to have a wicked aim like GTR or f0rest
2012-12-10 01:26
Peru dbie
he's not the igl not a support player neither, not even the full time awp, lmao. he's gotta frag for honor's sake.
2012-12-10 02:01
He is support + awper.
2012-12-10 02:42
that "support" story is just bullshit. what is a support in cs? wtf does that mean? "oh,he is a support,so we don't even expect from him to be good aimwise like the others"... I'm not trying to flame him,I think he is doing a decent job,but that "support role" thing doesn't work for me.
2012-12-10 03:53
l2p if you dont know what support is
2012-12-10 10:01
Lmao if you don't know what a support is, that's probably because you've never played CS at high level... Every top player will tell you that a team needs a caller, a mad fragger, an awper AND a support. Every top team has at least one (VG has nbk/smithzz (depends on maps), NiP has fifflaren, has Mx, Na'vi has ceh9 (never asked why he's never got kicked after bottom fragging consistently for 3/4 years?), ESC has loord/kuben, JaS has Uzziii etc etc...) If you haven't understand the concept of a support in counter strike after following the game for many years (i suppose), i think you're simply an idiot
2012-12-10 10:49
cute, can't reply normally rather insult right away? ok,he is a support,whatever...and with that said,is that an excuse for him not to hit his shots?
2012-12-10 11:23
well if you watched the interview the reason for not performing that well all the time is that he's never played as an awper before so thats a pretty fair excuse tbh.
2012-12-10 12:36
if he hid behind all crates, doors and corners like the GTR does (his role), he was perhaps the top fragger! you clearly do not understand the game and its variants!!
2012-12-10 13:24
but he can't do that cuz he is their awp most of the time, and all I am saying is that he shouldn't miss as much. Not talking about him being a mad fragger or a clutcher or an entry fragger...just get his shots, and that's it...
2012-12-10 14:08
He has never played AWP as main role and even the best awpers of previous counterstrike versions are missing alot shots so you expect him to be good?
2012-12-10 15:42
yes I do...playing in the best team in the world currently, expecting from him to miss less, even if he never played awp before,he is playing go for how long now?
2012-12-10 16:31
Finland phoosi
Then you dont know so much about CS.
2012-12-10 17:57
All im trying to say,"support role" is a lame excuse for him missing many shots
2012-12-10 17:58
So all teams awp who misses should be kicked? As I can see NiP is winning everything with god margin. Last tournament Fiff was one of the best players i NiP trough. Don´t say he is bad. He clearly rapes with rifle and Neo did taste Fiff pistol skills last game.
2012-12-29 20:01
"using awp for the first time" oh i see
2012-12-10 01:14
if i remember correctly, he was always a backup awper in source too helblinde who he teamed with alot
2012-12-10 01:18
he have improved actually.
2012-12-10 01:35
Russia goodjob
yep on this tournament he really stepped up :)
2012-12-10 02:49
In semi-final only, in the final he missed a lot
2012-12-10 13:26
he is a weak player but nice guy (unlike some swedish users on this site)
2012-12-10 01:35
hahaha +1

Estonia 2026
I gotta agree with this :)
2012-12-10 09:41
give any player to team with f0rest and get_right and they will be allways behind them frag-wise anyway fifflaren is really nice guy. yes low frags, but fits into this superb team :)
2012-12-10 01:39
Still they'r winning it not needed to change fifflaren or friberg.
2012-12-10 10:35
Been noticing alot of interviews not letting people give shoutouts at the end anymore. :P
2012-12-10 01:53
theyll just give shoutouts to their sponsors so whats the point?
2012-12-10 02:05
United Kingdom Alth
That IS the whole point. Herpa Derpa.
2012-12-10 02:56
Well I mean usually the players go out of their way to do an interview because a journalist asks them, so it just shows good manners to give them the time at the end to give shoutouts even though they may only shoutout to sponsors but I mean they give shoutouts to friends familiy and fans too.
2012-12-10 04:40
dis interviewer is very robot
2012-12-10 01:58
Fifflaren is a nice guy, good support, he's a glue guy, it's all about bettering the team!
2012-12-10 02:00
totally right about the csp thing
2012-12-10 02:08
Gotta love MIRAA's voice and accent <3
2012-12-10 02:54
Is he the swedish Frodo? He is carrying the PRECIOUS!!!
2012-12-10 03:15
With all the respect to the interviewer I love the way he talks as if he misses teeth, kinda mumbles I'd say... :)) no offense...funny...
2012-12-10 04:56
It's not wise to make fun of the one giving you coverage and video interviews rather than text interviews which people have been complaining about. Besides, his accent fits a few other Portuguese people I know so he doesn't sound bad honestly at least he speaks well.
2012-12-10 08:42
reread his comment bro :)

2012-12-10 07:32
You cant have 5 mad fraggers.. doesnt work. Delpan was very hot and cold and then SK cut him for a statistically better player in trace but everyone knows how that worked out... The team is winning thats all the matters, wd to fifflaren and NiP. These guys are like 46-0-0 now?
2012-12-10 07:32
2012-12-10 12:39
2012-12-10 14:49
The problem with trace was that they could not communicate well due to different languages. Not saying 5 fraggers is better but the example you mentioned does not apply.
2012-12-10 16:25
Denmark jazu
It kinda does =)
2012-12-14 11:08
He's engaged, that's why he has a ring around his neck.
2012-12-10 09:02
or got it from the hobbit premiere
2012-12-10 10:04
Haha :D
2012-12-10 15:44
Awesome interview, always nice to get some insight of the teams :)
2012-12-10 09:53
First good interview. Second need a new interviwer, get richard lewis. Third agree with him about CSP fourth fiflaren isn't ment to top frag fifth this dbie guy has no clue how cs works........and the dynamics of it
2012-12-10 13:13
Awesome interview, fifflaren is a great talker. Thanks.
2012-12-10 14:47
Fifflaren is an awesome guy. The 1.6 players in NiP are definitely better, but let's be honest. I really don't think that you can find a better pair of players(swedish) than fifflaren, and friberq to support gtr, forest and xizt.
2012-12-10 15:05
Fantastic interview, such a great guy. I did not even know he wasnt AWP in source, considering that his doing quite well imo.
2012-12-10 15:29
good interview, good luck fifflaren, I hope you continue to improve with the AWP.
2012-12-10 16:41
Perfect guy in a team with madfraggers. People only think Xizt make all decision by being an IGL. But they are working on it togheter, and Xizt are having the hole role in the matches.
2012-12-10 20:32
hes got the ring !!
