NiP see off ESC to win NorthCon

Ninjas in Pyjamas have won their sixth consecutive international title after defeating ESC Gaming in the NorthCon final.

On de_train_se, NiP picked the highly-favoured CT side for the first half, and they got off to a great start in the match, winning the pistol round as they defused the bomb with two ESC players still alive.

Despite giving a good account of themselves in the early stages of the game, ESC were seeing all those close rounds going the way of NiP, who strolled to a 5-0 lead. In the sixth round, the Polish team pulled out all the stops and went for a straight rush onto the outer bombsite, planting the bomb with all 10 players still alive and successfully holding down the site to get their first round of the match.

However, NiP did not let ESC gain any momentum, restoring a five-round lead to break the Poles' economy and force them to make a double save. The Swedish team remained in the driving seat for the remainder of the first half as they boasted a staggering 14-1 lead at half-time.

Now on CT side, ESC found a lifeline when they won the first two rounds, reducing the deficit to 11 rounds, but their dreams were crushed immediately after, with NiP taking two rounds in a row to win the map 16-3.

NiP add yet another title to their cabinet

Both teams then moved on to de_mirage_csgo, where ESC Gaming started out the better and won the pistol round after their rush onto the B bombsite caught NiP by surprise, courtesy of Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas, who picked up four kills. After ESC added the second round to their tab, NiP then pulled one back following some impressive eco play.

A lot of rounds were then exchanged between the two teams as neither side could stamp their authority on the game, but in the latter stages of the first half, NiP were able to counter most of ESC's strategies, with the scoreboard showing 10-5 in their favour at the break.

In the second half, NiP went for a full A rush in the pistol round which completely tore apart ESC's defensive setup. The Swedish team went on to add the next two rounds, and with the scoreline now 13-5 in their favour, the Polish team knew they had a mountain to climb to turn the score around in this match.

NiP then made it 15-5 to become just one round away from winning the tournament, and even though ESC were able to win a round of their own, it was simply too little, too late, as the Swedes walked out 16-6 winners to return home €5,000 richer.

Around 50
2012-12-16 02:26
Have they lost any LAN match so far? People say no. But I am almost sure they lost from BuggIT on Steelseries :GO event but I am not sure. Can someone check this? :)

On lan they are undefetead, they have 50 wins in a row. The closest match on lan was against mouz.UK 16-14 on d2 if i remember well.
2012-12-16 02:32
against curse 18:15 :P
2012-12-16 02:35
19-15 online, though i think they have had several 16-14 wins
2012-12-16 02:46
Yeah, maybe you're right,i think that are 2 or 3 games 16-14,but mouz.UK was they only one with a chance to put NiP's first loss on table.
2012-12-16 11:15
If I remember correctly the loss against BuggIT was under the name of Rockstar during the Go for Steelseries event and the lineup was also different.
2012-12-16 02:53
Yes my bad I checked it. Thanks for providing all these information.
2012-12-16 02:56
they lost to schenider's team in thor quals 16:14 on dd2_se. its ofc online match and if im not mistaken their only lose.

very bad game from the esc, im disappointed with the golden five they didnt even tried to use some movement or tactics..... ;/
2012-12-16 02:25
Still they showed amazing performance in group stages. Second place isn't bad.
2012-12-16 10:30

But not like they are "ruling" nowadays in CSGO. I follow the cs scene since 2005.

16-3 16-6 lol esc still bad
2012-12-16 02:27
Getting to the final and making it for the second place for an underdog team (in csgo of course) is a bad result? I don't get your logic...
2012-12-16 02:51
People can't by looking at the result of this tournament tell if ESC have become better. People that does so is deluded. The teams attending this tournament was mostly below top10 teams and the level was way lower than that of ESWC and DH etc. So them getting second place was a must and doesn't show if they have become better since the competition was way easier. Teams missing: Curse Curse.US Dynamic CPH Wolves Verygames fnatic Alternate n!faculty Target Down Ases Lemondogs Guadians-team :) Only 2 other teams from cadreds top10 (sorry for refering) was present at the event...

2012-12-17 03:07
Well played ESC, you guys improved so much in such a short time. Just keep it up and next tournament will be yours.

2012-12-16 16:16
"NiP picked the highly-favoured CT froe in the first half, and they got off to a great in the match" - I guess this needs few tweaks here and there ("for" and "got off to a great start" right?)
2012-12-16 02:31

2012-12-16 02:34
Lol yes. Its not far to go to Germany from Sweden
2012-12-16 02:36
Well i think they get most of their money from sponsors, if average pricepool is around 20k and 10+ teams attend there wouldnt be no point otherwise.
2012-12-16 08:52
so easy f0rest strong
2012-12-16 02:35
i dont understand how esc are playing (and not only esc, a lot of players). 1) they are spraying in a game with wtf recoil, why dont they tap? 2) i cant believe what im seeing when i see their movement, they always move like there is noone there. there are MANY spots where you can expect enemy and players always move hello ill just check if someone is here. they dont actually expect them, just check if theyre there. for me thats like wtf, when youre moving forward as terrorists you should always believe the player is right there and show in the way that gives you advantage and be super ready to shoot. but they arent. and fix the recoil, my head hurts when i see 600 hours+ training and when players are spraying they dont hit a shit.
2012-12-16 02:35
Nip sure do hit everything
2012-12-16 02:37
GeT_RiGhT hits almost everything with a spray even on longer distances. Maybe it's just about people not being able to adapt ;)
2012-12-16 02:39
Thailand hahahoha
gtr has the best spray control in go so far ive seen
2012-12-16 02:51
Yea but he has like way over 1000 hours played when ESC doesnt have even half of that.
2012-12-16 08:54
if it was only GTR friberg and xizt made longrange sprays and made kills a lot of times
2012-12-16 10:26
what i wanted to say was that spraying is a lot more random than in 1.6 (and i dont care if they make the same recoil or not, but watching pros fail@spray every round just sux, that happened rarely in 1.6). even if gtr is good at spraying i guess he still misses a lot

But in this case it's like getting second in the FA-cup.
2012-12-16 08:52
NiP is OP! :P Commiserations to ESC. Good luck in the next tournament.
2012-12-16 03:20
Who sayed that ESC won't come back, cha good job by them. I hope other teams improve and will make tournaments more competetive. GL 4 ESC on improving with gameplay :)
2012-12-16 03:25
this game is not competitive no emotion bye
2012-12-16 03:48
2012-12-16 10:19
The game got emotional situations, but to predicting and onesided when NiP's just demolishing every single team with their individual raw skill like they pretty much were less than nothing.. ...for now. :dd

2012-12-16 05:34
lol It will take so many time to take out NiP from their winningstreak that I believe NiP will win everything until CS:GO dies In other worlds it will make the scene BORING!
2012-12-16 10:20
for u maybe, im enjoying it very much xD
2012-12-16 13:36
so when fnatic, nip1.6, sk, noa, navi, were winning everything it wasnt boring?
2012-12-16 22:42
I think you can't catch what I'm saying... NiP will not dominate 1 year... They will dominate more than 1/2 years... Btw all of those teams didn't win ALL OF THE EVENTS IN THEIR PRIME they have entered which is something that NiP is doing...
2012-12-16 23:03
nip ruled 1.3, 1.5 and mid 1.6, in early 1.6 SK ruled :D
2012-12-16 19:55
My Opinion NIP would be better with barbarr awp and moddi riffle.. GeT_RiGhT f0rest Xizt MODDII ( Best fnatic for csgo very good riffle ) BARBARR ( Which is for me the best awp on csgo ) It is just my opinion after each his ;)
2012-12-16 04:47
switch barbarr for friiiiiis, and its truly a wonderteam
2012-12-16 05:31
Have you been watching NiP??? Fif and Fri have had some amazing clutches and can be extremely consistent. I would still take those two over moddii and barbarr --- the team as it is IS very balanced with good chemistry. Why screw it up ;)
2012-12-16 06:08
barbarr is far from the best awper in csgo.

And Anexis have failed again.

2012-12-16 11:43
I only watch GO because i want to see who finally beats NiP in a lan game :33
2012-12-16 11:46
i think we can say that teams who beat them online are hacking, it feel funny some unknown players have won against nip when pro teams training hard have a hard time to win more than 5 rounds.
2012-12-16 12:06
boring game
